Turkey hails strategic partnership with Romania

Turkey, Romania share a common understanding of regional security, says Foreign Minister Cavusoglu.On Thursday, the Turkish Foreign Minister praised the cooperation between Turkey and Romania in the field of regional security.

“Today, Turkey and Romania share a common understanding of regional security,” he said. First, the pursuit of peace and stability beyond Southeastern Europe to the Caucasus. This is our common goal. “We are the main provider of peace in southeastern Europe and the Black Sea region,” he added. He stressed that Romania has always played an important role in Turkey’s foreign policy. “We increase our solidarity under the NATO umbrella,” he said, stressing that Turkey supports Romania’s NATO candidacy.

He added that the trilateral consultation process between Poland, Romania, and Turkey has become a “solid platform” where they discuss various aspects of transatlantic security.

On the strategic partnership between the two countries, he said it could inspire all friendly countries to move forward with deeper cooperation. “Romania is our largest trading partner in the Balkans,” he said, adding that Turkey is one of the top foreign investors in Romania. Earlier, Kosoglu met with his Romanian counterpart Bogdan Aversco in the Romanian capital, Bucharest.

“Our trade volume target is 10 billion,” he said. “Our cooperation will be enhanced in all areas, especially in the defense industry and education,” the Turkish foreign minister said on Twitter.

He added that he hoped to see his Romanian counterpart at the Southeast European Cooperation Process and the Antelia Diplomacy Forum.
