PM to address UN-Escap session today
Prime Minister Imran Khan will be among the keynote speakers at the opening of the annual meeting of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-SCOPE) on Monday.

Heads of state and government, senior officials, and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region will review the social and economic impact of COVID19 and increase regional cooperation in responding to epidemics.

The 17th SCOPE Summit will be held from April 26 to 29 under the theme “Improving Crisis through Regional Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific”. It will also review the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, especially in the least developed countries, developed countries, and the Pacific island nation.

This will be the first time that the Prime Minister of Pakistan will address the annual meeting of the UN Scheme. According to the list of speakers announced by the UN-Scheme, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wajid, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and UN Munir Akram, President, Economic and Social Council will also address the scope session.

پیر کے روز ایشیاء اینڈ پیسیفک کے لئے نیشنل اکنامک اینڈ سوشل کمیشن (اقوام متحدہ – اسکائپ)۔ ریاستی اور حکومت کے سربراہان ، سینئر عہدیدار ، اور پورے ایشیاء پیسیفک کے خطے کے دیگر اسٹیک ہولڈرز کوویڈ 19 کے معاشرتی اور معاشی اثرات کا جائزہ لیں گے اور وبائی امراض کا جواب دینے میں علاقائی تعاون میں اضافہ کریں گے۔
“ایشیاء اور بحر الکاہل میں علاقائی تعاون کے ذریعے بحران کو بہتر بنانا” کے عنوان سے 17 واں ایس سی ای پی سمٹ 26 سے 29 اپریل تک منعقد ہوگا۔ یہ پائیدار ترقی کے لئے 2030 کے ایجنڈے کے نفاذ کا بھی جائزہ لے گی ، خاص طور پر کم ترقی یافتہ ممالک ، ترقی یافتہ ممالک اور بحر الکاہل جزیرے والے ممالک میں۔
یہ پہلا موقع ہوگا جب وزیر اعظم پاکستان اقوام متحدہ کی اسکیم کے سالانہ اجلاس سے خطاب کریں گے۔ اقوام متحدہ کی اسکیم کے ذریعہ اعلان کردہ مقررین کی فہرست کے مطابق ، افغان صدر اشرف غنی ، بنگلہ دیش کی وزیر اعظم شیخ حسینہ واجد ، سری لنکا کی وزیر اعظم مہندا راجا پاکسہ ، تاجکستان ، ترکمنستان ، ازبکستان ، منگولیا اور اقوام متحدہ کے صدر منیر اکرم ، صدر ، اقتصادی اور سماجی کونسل اسکوپ اجلاس سے بھی خطاب کرے گی۔
